Service Description
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics in a way that honors rather than conceals the break. The repair becomes part of the piece's story, creating something beautiful and unique. The piece's usefulness and story are not over. It carries its history within it—a symbol of resilience, renewal, and continuation. Join professional kintsugi artisan Kennedy Hawxhurst for an introduction to the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, an appreciation of imperfection, impermanence, and the beauty of things shaped by time and experience. Discover the art of kintsugi and create your own work of art using this simple, beautiful repair technique. Under Kennedy's guidance, you will create your own kintsugi repair on a provided ceramic bowl. No previous experience is necessary. • Materials: A ceramic bowl and supplies are provided for $15 • Take-home: Your repaired piece and supplies to continue practicing at home Come explore the beauty of imperfection and discover how a break can become part of an object's story - rather than the end of it.
